General Notes:
"He may have settled in Orange Co., New York after 1763, for it is known that of his children at least William, Enoch, Joseph, and Phebe, and Benjamin, and probably also Mary, settled at either Newburgh or Goshen, New York. This is significant when taken into consideration with the settlement of Thomas Coddington's two putative nephews, Joseph and Christopher, in Ulster Co., New York."
H. G. Coddington states that his dates for Thomas Coddington's immediate family were taken from a bible record, the bible belonging to Mrs. Hicks [Bertha Kelsey?] of Long Island. He had not seen the bible, but a correspondent sent him a copy (Coddington, H. G., n.d. "Thomas Coddington")
In his Revolutionary War pension application, his son, Enoch, state that in 1775 he set off for New Jersey to return to his mother's (no father mentioned), and soon learned that she had moved to New York State, so he went there to visit her. This suggests that his father Thomas was dead by 1775. 200,230,233,234
